Do you have the habit of staying awake late in the night. Well..! If you are a part of the Gen Y or the Gen Z you definitely should be used to it. If the clock strikes one and you think it's quite late already, then you my dear friend aren't going to bed late in the night. When we the people staying in the hostel tell you that we went to bed late last night, we mean we go to bed at four in the morning. Yes..! You read that right.
Now do you know what is the biggest challenge while staying awake late in the night.? No, its not keeping your eyes wide open. It's about battling the hunger. A person who stays awake till four in the morning needs to literally hunt for food. Yes ..! All this is after the person realises there are no maggi packets available. So what do such hostelites do.?
Well..! If you are in a hostel that has a pan Indian population, consider yourself lucky. So we
go to a Gujarati's room hoping to get something to eat and Gujarati's almost always have a lot of things to eat.
In my personal experience, this was the first time I am experiencing a hostel life and I seldom knew Gujarati's always had variety of eateries with them. Anyway, that is how I was introduced to Khakhra. Khakhra was a paradise especially when you taste it while you are starving. Oh ya..! This reminds me, the Gujarati friend asks me for a feedback everytime I get a khakhra from him. Soon we became good friends and I spend most of my time in a Gujarati's room post 2 o'clock in the night. A typical South Indian spending hours together in a Gujarati's room talking about all kinds of things with flavours of Khakhra in hand.. that's something .. isn't it..?
In a nutshell, what is the moral of the story.?
"Early to bed and early to rise keeps you healthy, wealthy and wise" but "Early to rise and early to bed keeps you healthy but socially dead"
I am glad that I made good friends in my hostel. A lot can happen over Khakhra indeed..! :)
