As sweet as Sugar .. ! - Gujarat Tales

Did you know an item as small as sugar can create a huge impact on a sect of people or society? Take this quote for example.

"Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to come with me and change the world?" - as said by steve jobs to John Sculley to lure him to apple.

It was after this statement that Sculley realised he needs to create a dent in the universe and joined Apple Inc.

Now are you trying to figure out the connection between this story and Gujarat..?

Well it was the same small item 'SUGAR' that brought in people who were/are responsible for enrichment of the economy of India. This time the sugar was mixed with milk.

When parsis travelled from persia to Gujarat, they landed in the Sanjana port in the Indian state of Gujarat. The King Jadhav Rana who was the ruler back then sent the Parsis a bottle of milk filled till the brim. The volume signified the number of people already living in the land and that the land was full. The Parsis who are known for their peace loving nature wanted to send back a message that they would make the land and community richer and more prosperous by their good values, knowledge and hardwork. To signify this, the Parsis added sugar to the glass of milk.

The King Jadhav was so impressed with this gesture that he granted them asylum and welcomed them with gifts and helped them settle in the new land of India.

Parsis have had their own set of contribution to India. The major industrialist like Tata's, Godrej are among the most well known parsis.
